UK PAYE Tax Calculator 2025/26 — Everything you need to know
Our UK PAYE tax calculator is updated for the 2025 to 2026 tax year (6 April 2025 to 5 April 2026) and uses the official HMRC rates and thresholds. Whether you want to know your take-home pay after tax, understand your National Insurance contributions, or compare the impact of a pay rise, our salary calculator UK 2026 gives you a complete picture in seconds.
Income tax calculator UK 2025/26
The UK income tax system uses progressive bands. Your first £12,570 is tax-free (your personal allowance). You then pay 20% basic rate on the next £37,700, 40% higher rate between £50,271 and £125,140, and 45% additional rate above that. Our income tax calculator for England, Wales and Northern Ireland handles all of this automatically, including the personal allowance taper for higher earners.
National Insurance calculator 2026
For 2025/26, employees pay 8% Class 1 National Insurance on weekly earnings between £242 and £967 (annual: £12,570–£50,270), and 2% above that. Our National Insurance calculator UK shows your exact NI liability alongside your income tax, so you see your true total tax burden.
Scottish income tax calculator
Scottish taxpayers have six income tax bands instead of three. If you live in Scotland, switch to the Scotland mode in our PAYE calculator Scotland to get the correct figures using the Scottish rate of income tax (SRIT), which differs from England, Wales, and Northern Ireland for earnings above around £28,000.
